అసతోమా సద్గమయ,

తమసోమాజ్యోతిర్గమయ,

మృత్యోర్మా అమృతంగమయ (బృహదారణ్యకము 91.3.28)

 Oh God, please lead me from Untruth to Truth, please lead me from Ignorance to Illumination and please lead me from Mortality to Immortality....

The ultimate ambition of a human being should be to reach the destiny i.e. where he comes from.

The phenomenal world we perceive with our senses is only insentient. It is a gross part. It has a quality of composition and decomposition. So it is subject to destruction and over a period it vanishes. Therefore, it is said to be Unreal. Unreal or untruth is always non-existent. Our manifestation has taken place from un-manifestation, which is real or Truth and exists always. The truth is sentient and not gross or subtle. It has neither a beginning nor an end. So, we pray for the Ultimate to lead us to our birthplace which is real and unmanifest.

The wisdom of reality can be perceived only when our ignorance vanishes and enlightenment dawns. So, we pay the Ultimate to lead us from ignorance to illumination.

As the body is composed with five elements and over a period of time it vanishes. We call it death. Then all the five elements merge with the cosmic elements and we call it Mortality. Though the body disappears there is something which is immortal in our body, and it is called the Atman which is sentient. It is the manifestation of Ultimate and eternal. When we have such realisation, we pray to the Ultimate to lead us from mortality to immortality.

Realisation and attaining the state of eternity is the ultimate Goal of Human Life.
